Brendon wakes up when his phone vibrates across the nightstand and clunks to the floor. Shane groans into Brendon's armpit and flails a little in his sleep.

Brendon yawns widely. "You're old," he tells the top of Shane's head, leaning over the bed to fumble for the phone on the floor. "I'm not jetlagged at--" he has to break off for another jaw-cracking yawn--"at all." He pulls the phone toward him with his fingertips until he can scoop it up and settle back in bed to read the new text from Sarah.

hows hawaii?

Prty, he sends back, looking out the window at the ocean and absently combing through Shane's hair with his fingers. Shn is old. Dsnt want 2 wk up.

He gets a reply a few seconds later. LOL Regan says blow him

He grins and rolls his eyes a little. Grls nite? Dors Day agn?

Hepburn and cosmos and only if u count Ry and Spence as girls

Brendon laughs, and Shane pinches him. Brendon grabs the punishing fingers, and kisses them when Shane glares. Brendon holds up one finger, gesturing to his phone with his head. Shane sighs and puts his head back down with a soft bite to Brendon's ribs.

not foolin me, Brendon taps out, aware that he's losing interest in the conversation as Shane's knee inches over Brendon's thigh.

cosmos grlier thn Hpbrn, Brendon argues. Shane is mouthing at his ribcage. It's nice.

Brendon considers this for a moment. He looks down at Shane and puffs out his cheeks like George of the Jungle. Shane raises an eyebrow at him and puffs his own cheeks back. Brendon smiles. they wnt bck n made the bb thr. trst me

u 2, Brendon sends, and sets the phone on the nightstand. Shane looks up at him, smiling sleepily.

Brendon slides down the bed to do as he's told.

This was really great! The shift of perspectives through the chapters made for an interesting narrative, and I love how you got to see the goings-on through a lot of different eyes. The unfolding of the plot was done really well and kept me interested about how everyone factored into things.

The Jon and Shane chapters were awesome, and I love the backstory you had for the Brendon/Shane. The bit about the Disneyland Urie Seal of Approval made me wibble, and Jon's exasperation at being caught up while being clueless rang so true.

Anyway, before this gets really long-winded, I'll just end this with - this was really awesome, all the characters and the characterizations, the misunderstandings and how they got resolved. Just everything was excellent! Thank you for sharing ♥

oh my god this was so great! i LOVE shane and regan in this, and that is no small feat. they're just this bubble of open communication and functionality outside the faily madness that is panic. the ethical slut! i fucking LOVE that book.

i love the different ways that jealousy is portrayed - keltie feeling jealous of anyone who sleeps with ryan, spencer only sometimes feeling jealous of people who sleep with ryan, shane never feeling jealous until it is clear he's been ousted for sarah, jon angry that no one will tell him what's going on... i love how complicated every character is. i love that spencer recognized ryan's markings on bden. i even love how much jon loves cassie (also no small feat).

this was an amazing read and i'm so excited it exists! i've been waiting for some functional polyamory around here. fantastic! ♥

Ryan and Spencer's relationship in this is so fascinating to me. How they started out and how they kept a truce for years but then they reach that point where it's all or nothing. and I loved how it affected everyone around them and how their history together lended so much more to the story.

Jon's chapter made me go 'oh, Jon Walker' because they kept leaving him out and from personal experience, that is really annoying. also, he and Cassie are awesomesauce and really adorable together.

and I love that you wrote from Shane's perspective, too. You wrote him really well.

oh, and I love Regan and Sarah. they're sassy and wise women.

man, there was so much more that I loved but it would take me forever to mention all of them.

It's good to finally get to read all of this together, to see how the hurt and guilt and projection all interlock into a love story with issues AND A HAPPY ENDING. You do this so well!

And you got the polyamory-friend-testing tone just right for the Reagan-Sarah dynamic. And Sarah wasn't a douceface! Nobody was an unrelieved villain, they were all just getting screwed up by the domino effect of Ryan's issues. (I always blame Ryan's issues ... maybe I have a Ryan issue. /o\)

This was really amazing and not at all what I expected. I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered the Ryan/Spencer dynamic was the core of the story. The Spencer/Shane bits were just the tasty, tasty frosting.

This was amazing. Such a nuanced story. I loved the tone and the different POVs and I adored the scene with the resolution of Shane and Brendon's relationship. So I have a tendency to be overly complimentary when commenting on fic that I really enjoy. I want you to know that this comment is not overly complimentary. I am not just saying that I love it because I like it a lot. I am saying that I love it because I love it.

Every character and every perspective felt so real; their feelings were complicated enough that they were practically breathing; the way you wrote the different relationships was incredible. I actually did the whole saving-quotes-to-talk-about-later-in-a-comment thing, which I never do.

"Nothing's perfect, George Ryan Ross, no matter how much you dream."
I think this sums up one of the best characterisations of Ryan: the cynic who doesn't have faith in anything, but is always dreaming and hoping to achieve the ideal.

He's worked so hard to be in love with her; he doesn't want her to be sad.
This is kind of heart breaking. It's brilliant and wonderful, and an aspect of sometimes functional relationships that is rarely addressed.

Especially since I think Brendon's going to put orange juice on his Frosted Flakes again; you know that freaks me out."

Ryan falls down a lot and Jon laughs at him and Ryan communes with the parts of nature he doesn't trip over.

I find hilarious.

Spencer doesn't let himself hate Ian even a little bit, and concentrates on his own breathing at night in the tour bus without Ryan's snores to set his heartbeat to.
I'm not sure why, but the last bit of this is absolutely devastating.

Bun mostly just, oh god, I didn't want this to end. The relationships fit my personal fannon perfectly, at least as far as Ryan and Spencer are involved. In my head, there's plenty of fun and sex between bandmates, and lots of caring, and Ryan and Brendon have some moments, as do Spencer and Brendon, but mostly it's not serious, and all the while, Ryan and Spencer are totally in love with each other and pining and hurting and things.

Also, just fyi, this has kinda inspired me to keep working on ym own fic...and just...I don't know. This really spoke to me, for some reason.

This is so, so good! I love that the miscommunication about Spencer's part in the threesome makes sense. Like, I could completely understand both how Spencer said it and how Ryan took it without strecthing (which is awesome, becasue sometimes the miscommunications in fiction make me pity the lack of brainpower on the characters' parts). And I love their pining, and Jon's observation of it. :D I had such a lump in my throat for Shane when Brendon said he was taking Sarah home. I'm so glad it worked out.

Ok, I'm kinda speechless.
I wasn't sure at the start, because I'm not a fan of fics with lots of POVs and where almost everybody is gay but I'm really really really glad I gave it a shot.
Your writing is amazing, as the story and the plot. Everybody's feelings are true and beautiful and there's self-sacrifice and misunderstanding, and you didn't turn the girls in sluts (and I'm rambling.)

My only regret is the happy ending (I'm a angst lover) but the epilogue is really funny so it"s ok

So I always have really ambitious goals about reading all the BBB stories in a timely fashion and always fail miserably. So, late feedback is late. But: this was so wonderful. I loved the different points of view, and how at times we knew more than they did but each one still taught us new stuff about the situation. Shane's was so heart-wrenching for so many reasons but so well done. It was especially hard when Sarah came on the screen because I wanted to like her, but she just made Shane so sad... but it all worked out wonderfully. I totally had a hilarious "Aha!" moment where I realized why Ryan broke up with Panic and was very impatient waiting for that to be solved (also wonderful. Ryan+Spencer=OTP that I forget I have). Also, mad props on how well this fits in the timeline (or just plain changes the timeline a little bit so as to make it much better in the long run.) Really awesome fic, definitely going in my list of BBB recs for my roommate.

This was beautiful. Ryan/Spencer is awesome. Lovely POV changes and a great view on poly and jealousy. The want and longing in this is so poignant and heartbreaking. Jon totally snuck up on me in this one but Spencer was the show stopper.
